Second Act Charters is a boat for hire company owned and operated by Jim and Cindy Kelley.  They have lived and worked in the LBI area since 2003.  They currently reside in Manahawkin with their 3 kids who attend Southern and Stafford School districts.  

Cindy was born and raised on LBI before moving to Manahawkin when she was 15.  She is a Southern graduate and after spending her youth at the beach and boating with her father off of Beach Haven, she always knew she wanted to raise her family here.  After attending college in Philadelphia (where she met Jim) she returned home to work in her family's business.  She is the proud owner of The Van Dyk Group with her father and siblings.  Her favorite thing to do is spend time with Jim and their 3 kids on the boat and soaking in the salt air and sunshine.  

Jim was born and raised in Aston, PA and spent his summers in Wildwood where he started his love for being on the water.  He grew up boating and fishing off of Cape May, NJ with his father.  After meeting Cindy, he was introduced to LBI and has been exploring the area by water ever since.  He worked as a realtor on LBI for 18 years before retiring to pursue his dream of a career on the water.  In the off season you can find Jim driving a school bus for Stafford Township School District or playing the guitar and singing with other local artists.  His passion is his family, music, singing and being out on the boat fishing or cruising the area.  He's also an ordained minister and has had the pleasure of officiating weddings as well as being a wedding singer on several occasions.  

Captain Jim has spent most of his life enjoying and learning about boating.  He started out with his Dad down in Cape May, NJ.  He got his first boaters license at age of 17 and has been at the helm in both bay, ocean and gulf waters in New Jersey and Florida.  After moving to LBI in 2003, he quickly started learning Barnegat Bay.  He enjoys both bay and ocean trips, but his favorite is fishing off of the artificial reefs in the ocean off the Little Egg Inlet.  He purchased his first boat with his Dad in 2011 and is now on his third boat, The Honey Bee, where he will be fulfilling his lifelong dream of a career on the water.   He has completed the State of NJ Boater's Safety class twice, and the USCG Captains Certification Course.  He is CPR certified and prides himself on the safety of his passengers.  He is ordained by The Church of the Latter Day Dude and the Universal Life Church in order to be able to perform wedding ceremonies.
